ILO Social Finance Programme
Given the key role of the financial market in promoting Decent Work in a globalized context, the ILO has created a programme to systematically analyse, evaluate and disseminate financial sector issues relevant for employment and social justice: the ILO Social Finance Programme.
The Social Finance Programme has been a significant driving force behind the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance, which it leads, and manages the Gates Foundation funded Microinsurance Innovation Facility. The Programme has been responsible for important contributions to the progress of microinsurance.

Micro Insurance Agency
The Micro Insurance Agency is an insurance intermediary dedicated to serving poor households with an affordable and suitable range of insurance products. They seek to work in partnership with organizations that are currently serving the poor, the informal sector, and the currently unserved mass market such as microfinance organizations, rural banks and SACCO`s, as well as humanitarian organizations that are providing non-financial services. In addition, they serve other social aggregators such as trade unions, professional associations, and faith-based networks.

Munich Re Foundation
The Munich Re Foundation has been a great supported of microinsurance. They have co-sponsored the Microinsurance Annual Meetings, financed the production of the book `Protecting the Poor`, and continue to provide critical inputs to productive discourse in microinsurance.

Microinsurance Network
This Microinsurance Network was launched on November 8, 2008 and will replace the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance, established in 2002 by donor organisations, multilateral agencies and other interested parties that are involved in the promotion and support of microinsurance in developing countries.

Micro Health Insurance Africa
Micro Health Insurance for low-income population in Botswana, Ghana, and Malawi – an approach to reduce poverty
Micro health insurance tries to overcome the vicious circle of poverty and illness. Within the project `Pro MHI Africa` the University of Cologne and its partners, the Universities of Ghana, Malawi, and Botswana analyse micro health insurance units in these three African countries and give academic attendance.
On the basis of scientific outcomes, the university network prepares students to become policy makers for the expanding (micro-) insurance markets and to qualify them as experts for micro health insurance. The project “Pro MHI Africa” is funded by the Edulink programme of the European Union.

The Facility developed a research strategy for 2008-2012 with help from various stakeholders and based on a literature review. The strategy paper outlines goals and objectives, key research questions, mechanisms to generate new knowledge as well as an operational plan.
